The award was established by the Women's Engineering Society this year to recognise and celebrate women who have recently achieved Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.

Lucy works at FalconWorks – BAE Systems’ new centre for advanced and agile research and technology development in the Air Sector. Lucy advocates for women working across STEM subjects, combating female under-representation within the industry. She said:

"It's a really exciting area to work in and it truly is different each day. Working on such different projects to the rest of the business brings its own challenges, particularly when engaging hearts and minds. We have to bring people on the journey of sustainability, why we need it and the benefits to develop platforms now."

Her experience within the STEM sector has been incredibly positive and wants to encourage young girls to consider this field as a career choice.

She added: "I am so grateful for the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Women's Engineering Society for recognising me and honouring with this award. My professional registration journey with the Royal Aeronautical Society has been fantastic and I highly recommend engineers to look towards becoming registered.

"With the field currently developing at its fastest ever rate, it's the perfect time to join and gain a rewarding career. I want to see the barriers that women in STEM face being removed, starting from building more confidence in young girls to negate the bravery deficit.”

Lucy has an MEng degree in Aeronautical Engineering. She graduated in 2021.

We’d like to offer our congratulations to Lucy on this recognition and wish her all the best in her career.
