Sustainability Sub-Committee
Terms of Reference
Purpose
To oversee the development and delivery of the sustainability strategy ensuring it is aligned with the overall University strategy.
- To provide advice and direction to the University on the policies, guidance, action plans, and resources which are required to support the implementation of the sustainability strategy.
- To provide assurance that the University’s policies and practices are compliant with net zero and biodiversity net gain legislation.
- To report on the University’s progress on achieving scope 1, 2 and 3 reduction targets and on scope 4 developments.
- To ensure non regulatory compliance obligations and commitments are monitored and progress reported.
- To submit an annual report to Infrastructure and Sustainability Committee reviewing progress against sustainability strategy KPIs.
- To monitor national and international legislative and policy developments related to sustainability and advise on their implications for the University.
- To monitor and report on changes to sustainability league table rankings and make recommendations to the University for improving ranking positions.
- To monitor the University’s Climate Risk Register annually and oversee development of a climate change adaptation plan.
Other duties
- To report to Infrastructure and Sustainability Committee after each meeting.
- To make recommendations to Infrastructure Committee and Health, Safety and Environment Committee as required.
- To establish working groups as required.
