Research and expertise
My research interests focus on the nexus between construction and technology, especially in commercial and infrastructure projects. With a background in Construction Project Management and over 6 years of client-facing industry experience across multiple sectors (commercial, infrastructure, and residential construction), my motivation was borne from the numerous challenges and gaps that I witnessed in my professional practice.
My research therefore responds to national and international critical topics and combines the latest in advanced ICT and data science with design thinking to develop innovative, technology-led, and process-driven solutions that improve performance, resilience, and safety of the built environment. My research interest is thus in the application of digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Digital Twins (DTs), and Building Information Modelling (BIM), in facilitating the implementation of advanced construction methods such as Modular Construction, Offsite Construction, and in the effective operation and maintenance of built assets.

- Digital Twins for Effective Operation and Maintenance of Footway Assets - currently investigating how data and artificial intelligence can be applied for predictive maintenance of footway assets

- Modular Integrated Construction in the Housing Sector - evaluated how Modular Construction can be applied to solve the housing crisis, with a focus on the Kenyan Housing Sector

Profile
I am a versatile individual with ever growing managerial, analytical, engineering, economic and organizational knowledge and skills, with the ability to plan and implement technical and economic processes to construction projects and evaluate the results.
In academia, I have over 3 years of teaching experience both in Kenya and in the UK, delivering excellent outcomes in topics such as Project Management, Construction Law, Construction Technology, and Building Information Modelling, both at undergraduate and post graduate levels.
In the industry, I have taken part in and delivered projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, health and infrastructure sectors. I am experienced in successfully developing and building partnerships, leading and managing project teams, avoiding and resolving disputes, designing and managing projects, programs and stakeholders across various levels and jurisdictions, and ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and objectives.

Awards
- Won the Engineering and Built Environment (EBE) Postgraduate Prize 2020 awarded by Birmingham City University for being the top student in the faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment (CEBE) for the Academic year 2019/2020
- Won the Student Representative of the Year Award 2020 by Extra Mile Awards for being the best postgraduate student representative for the academic year 2019/2020
- Won the Student Academic Leader (SAL) of the Year Award 2020 by Birmingham City University Students Union (BCUSU) for being voted the best student leader
- Was awarded the Record Breaker’s Medal by the #IamBCU Team for being the first postgraduate student in the history of Birmingham City University to win 2 awards at university level and an award at faculty level
