Canal & River Trust x Trash Free Trails River Clean Up

  • 11 March 2025
  • 1pm-4pm
  • Loughborough Canal

About this event

Join the Canal and River Trust, Trash Free Trails and Carbon Jacked in cleaning up the Loughborough river and canal trails. More than 14 million pieces of plastic get into the UK’s rivers and canals every year. By keeping it out of our waterways, we can help stop plastic from flowing into oceans each year. More than 80% of the plastic polluting our seas, oceans and beaches originates from being discarded on land.

Staff and students are invited to take part in this exciting event removing plastic and waste from the canals and clearing up surrounding trails and riverbanks, giving back to the local biodiversity and community.

The clean-up is part of the Canal and River Trust’s nationwide campaign against plastic pollution. It also marks the launch of the university being a community hub for Trash Free Trails as part of Sustainability Week.
