About this event
25 May 2025 marks five years since the death George Floyd. His death became a catalyst for a powerful, worldwide movement advocating for racial equity and human rights.
Loughborough College and Loughborough University invite you to a joint commemoration event to honour George Floyd’s life, and in remembrance of all those lost to institutional racism and violence in both the UK and the US. This gathering will be a space for collective reflection, healing, and continued commitment to anti-racism.
Together, you can reflect on the significance of the Black Lives Matter movement and its global and local impact, acknowledge the progress made on our campuses and in our communities, recognise the challenges that persist and share our hopes for a more just and equitable future.
The event will include readings and reflections from members of the community, followed by a few moments of silence.
