Laughter Yoga - Staff Sessions

About this event

Laughing for no reason, just laughing. Combining playfulness, laughter and breathing for pleasure and health. Not actual Yoga!

Laughter Yoga was started in Mumbai, India in 1995 by Dr Madan Kataria. He knew that the body produces feel-good hormones like endorphins when we laugh. He realised the body can’t tell the difference if we laugh because something is funny or because we just laugh. He combined the laughter with Pranayama Yoga deep breathing. Laughter Yoga is now practiced all over the world in over 120 countries with 1000s of participants.

The sessions in Semester 2 2025 are:

  • Thursday 23rd January 12:15pm-1pm
  • Thursday 20th February 12:15pm-1pm
  • Thursday 20th March 12:15pm-1pm

There are 12 spaces per session. You are welcome to book onto multiple sessions.

You are advised to bring some water with you and wear comfortable clothing (although no actual yoga will take place!) Please note: this is aerobic exercise so it’s not recommended for anyone with uncontrolled heart disease or epilepsy, incontinence, hernia, recent abdominal surgery.

You will received a calendar invitation from the chaplaincy securing your place. Should the sessions be oversubscribed you'll be added to a waiting list.
