Webinar: 'Culture Wars' on LGBT+ issues today compared to the 1950s

  • 27 February 2025
  • 1pm-2pm
  • Online

About this event

This is a screening and talk which draws parallels between the ‘culture wars’ about LGBTQ+ issues (especially trans issues) today and debates about the decriminalisation of male homosexuality in the 1950s. For this, there will be excerpts of a 1957 programme in which John Wolfenden is grilled on his new report about homosexuality and prostitution.

The webinar is held by Dr Marcus Collins, Reader in Contemporary History.
