Reminder: Don’t forget to take part in new safeguarding mandatory training

Last month, we informed colleagues of a new mandatory safeguarding training course that all staff are required to complete.

Thank you to those who have already completed the training, we're pleased to report that approximately 30% of our colleagues have participated.

The training can be accessed as a module on Learn through your computer or smart device.  It is expected that the training will take no longer than 15 minutes.

All staff are required to complete the training before 1 July 2025 ahead of our annual Mandatory Training report. Colleagues will then need to retake the training every three years. Some FAQs have been provided below for further information.

All staff FAQs

Q: I don’t have a laptop/computer in my role. How do I access the training?

A: In the first instance please speak to your manager or team leader and they will be able to help you gain access to a computer in the way you would for fulfilling other mandatory training. If you have any queries, please contact Organisational Development.

Q: I have completed safeguarding training in the past - why do I now need to do Level 1 Safeguarding training?

The Level 1 Safeguarding training was recently approved as a new addition to the mandatory training suite for all staff. In order to be compliant with this new requirement all staff need to complete the Level 1 training between 1 March 2025 and 1 July 2025. The completion records will be reported to the Audit and Risk Committee.

Q: I have completed the Level 1 Safeguarding, do I need to do any other mandatory safeguarding training?

A: Level 1 is mandatory for all staff. Some staff may have other Safeguarding training which is a mandatory requirement for their role. You will be made aware of this through your usual route for training completion. All staff can access further safeguarding training if they feel it would be of benefit to their role.
