Francis joined Loughborough in 1988 to undertake his MSc in Construction (doing his project on the application of Robotics in Construction) before pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Professor Tony Thorpe and Professor Andrew Price.
He spent several years as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow before becoming a lecturer in 2005. He made many contributions to his academic School and the wider University, fulfilling many roles, including Programme Director and Admissions Tutor for the MSc in Construction Management for many years.
He was particularly popular with Doctoral Researchers, having supervised many students across a variety of construction management topics. He was also a University Mace Bearer at numerous graduation ceremonies and civic events.
Our sincere condolences go to Francis’ family. We know that many colleagues on campus knew Francis and our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
