This update is essential for addressing security vulnerabilities and bug fixes, ensuring the University's overall security system remains robust.
If you are using the Windows 11 Staff Desktop Service, this update will not affect you.
Action required
- Back up your files
IT Services strongly recommend transferring files saved on your desktop to cloud services (OneDrive or Microsoft Teams) or network drive locations (Workspaces) to keep your data secure and easily accessible during the update process.
- Receiving the update and restarting your device
The update will be deployed automatically when your device is connected to the campus eduroam network or the VPN service (Cisco Secure Client).
If you work remotely on a regular basis, please connect to the VPN at least twice a week to receive essential updates that enhance security and optimise your device’s performance.
As with previous Trellix Drive Encryption updates, these will be installed in the background and may require up to two reboots to complete the installation.
About Trellix Drive Encryption
Trellix Drive Encryption protects against the loss of sensitive data, especially from lost or stolen equipment as all the data on a system drive is encrypted.
On the Windows 10 service, during the login process, users will encounter the Trellix Drive Encryption pre-boot authentication screen before the operating system loads. This screen requires them to enter their Loughborough credentials, such as a username and password, to access the encrypted drive.
If you have any queries regarding this, please contact the IT Service Desk at IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk.
