The University partners with Loughborough Wellbeing Centre and launches 12-week Provision

Loughborough University has partnered with Loughborough Wellbeing Centre which provides a safe and supportive environment and runs a range of activities to support people's mental health in Charnwood and beyond.

Loughborough University is committed to improving and protecting the wellbeing of students, university staff, and the wider community and is working with the Wellbeing Centre to extend and showcase their work. This partnership exemplifies the work of the University’s Vibrant and Inclusive Communities strategic theme.

The University Security Manager Jenny Ardley spoke on the partnership: “Partnering with the Wellbeing Centre is an exciting step towards fostering a vibrant and inclusive community here at the University and the wider Loughborough community. By joining forces, we can provide students with easier access to mental health resources, events, and a safe space to navigate the challenges they might experience during their time here. Together, we're building a foundation that prioritises students' wellbeing and empowers them to succeed in their studies.”

New 12 Week Provision

The University and Wellbeing Centre are jointly running a 12-week provision, every Monday 5pm-8pm in Semester 2, specifically for students. This student focussed drop-in style will provide students with a new, warm and fun place to study. Hot drinks and snack will be available at a small cost, as well as a safe and welcoming space for students to participate in a range of supportive and fun activities to support their own wellbeing. The first session begins on Monday 3 February. Come along and explore this new space – no sign up needed!

Helen Carter, the Chief Executive Officer of the Wellbeing Centre said: “Loughborough Wellbeing Centre is delighted to be working in partnership with Loughborough University as part of our ongoing mental health support within the local community. Being located within the town centre means we see lots of students who live above and around us and as a locally community and charity, we wanted to share our welcoming and safe environment with them. We are grateful for the kind donation from a local Student Let Landlord who has very generously agreed to fund the first semester starting in February. Our aim is to seek additional support to enable this work to continue and become part of our weekly offer at the Wellbeing Centre.”
