Closure of Project Compliance

In January 2025, the Project Compliance Board determined to close the Project.

Established in 2022, as the first of the Enabling Projects in furtherance of the new University Strategy, Creating Better Futures. Together, Project Compliance was tasked with building the foundations of a culture of compliance for the University. Project Compliance rolled out the Inform-Support-Assure-Lead framework advocating for a proportionate approach to our compliance activities, helping support colleagues to do the right thing at the right time.

Project Compliance has worked with more than 45 compliance areas across the University, identifying opportunities for change and highlighting existing best practice. The Project has also looked at our approach to mandatory training, policy development and has produced a suite of useful resources for those leading compliance in their role at the University.

Sam McGinty, Director of Legal Services and Project Director said: “I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who have engaged with the work of Project Compliance over the last three years. We have succeeded in setting the foundations for longer term cultural change in our approach to compliance and supported the governing body in receiving assurance from compliance leads in a more structured and meaningful way. My special thanks to John Houghton, our Project Manager, and members of the Project Board, who generously gave their support to the Project.”

The Project’s webpages have been remodelled to be a lasting resource, hosting useful materials for all staff and is available via the Legal Services pages.
