Our values are at the heart of our strategy, and they matter because success comes not just from what we achieve, but how we achieve it.
Ffyona Baker, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and the University’s Lead for People & Culture shares her thoughts: “I’m really proud that here at Loughborough our values mean something special. They remind us that how we show up at work, how we interact with one another, and the way we work together matters. I’ve been delighted that so many of our colleagues have been involved in developing our values, describing them in ways that help each of us to reflect on how we can play our part in bringing them to life. We know that living our values is not always easy, but we know it when we see it, and it feels really good when we get it right!”
Colleagues from across the University have helped us to describe what each value means in terms of everyday behaviours. We are pleased to be able to share these with you through the launch of our new values website, where you will find a range of tools, resources and stories as inspiration. Our new values toolkit provides practical advice on how to incorporate our values into daily activities, and leaders and managers will find support materials to use with their teams.
You may already have seen how our values have become embedded in activities such as recruitment and recognition and our continued work on developing our staff experience will see them embedded further. If you aren’t already familiar with our values don’t get left behind, check out the website and consider how you, your colleagues and your teams can keep a focus on the importance of values throughout your daily actions, and the way you work with one another. We are really keen to feature the fantastic work that teams from across the University are doing on values, so please help us to share your stories and get in touch to tell us more.
Thank you for playing your part in helping to ensure that Loughborough has a vibrant and inclusive culture, where everyone thrives, and our values mean more to us than just words on a page.
