Where possible, organisations should provide gender neutral toilet facilities in addition to sufficient single-sex facilities.
In response to the ruling and related guidance, we have advised that members of our community on both the London and Loughborough campuses continue to use toilet facilities as before until further notice. The University already has a significant number of accessible, gender-neutral toilets, and work is taking place to explicitly designate additional inclusive toilets across campus marked with the ‘inclusive’ sign below.
These toilets will be both gender neutral and accessible for disabled people, including people with disabilities that are not visible. Please be considerate of people who may need to access toilet facilities urgently.
The work to designate toilet provision will take place over the coming weeks. Once completed, we will review the provision ensuring that the location of inclusive toilets is included on the Loughborough University AccessAble App and Accessibility Guide so that students, staff and visitors to campus can check the location of ‘inclusive’ toilets while travelling around campus.
While this work takes place, please continue to be respectful to other users. There will be further updates as the work progresses.
