Come along to the Arts Scholars' Showcase

Come along for this year's Arts Scholars’ Showcase, which features the four scholarship winners for 2024/25. The arts forms of this year’s winners include music, dance and photography.

The Arts Scholars' Showcase will take place on 20 May, 12.30pm in Martin Hall Theatre. The event is free and open to all, you can book your place online.

Music scholar Victor Ayodele's performance will include a remixed cover of Blessed by Daniel Caesar, which will showcase the way in which he blends R&B and gospel music.

Adithi Ravi-Prakash was awarded her scholarship for dance and specifically Bharatanatyam, which is one of the oldest classical dance forms of India. Rooted in the temples of Tamil Nadu in South India, Bharatanatyam is a rich blend of storytelling, rhythm, expression, and intricate movement. Adithi will perform a Tillana — a vibrant and energetic finale, known for its lively tempo and celebratory spirit.

Music scholar Anna Wright will perform the solo flute piece Syrinx by Debussy and Dolce (Op. 2) by Telemann on the piccolo (performed as a duet with Lolly St Pierre on flute).

Photography work by our visual arts scholar, DaeJean Samuels, will be on display in the foyer for you to enjoy before or after the showcase.

Each of the arts scholars has received financial support to help them develop their practice over the course of the year and this is a wonderful opportunity to bear witness to the hard work they have put in. This event is a fantastic celebration of our students' talent and creativity and will feature short pieces from their repertoire.

Free refreshments will be served in Martin Hall foyer from 12pm with the performances expected to last for approximately 45 minutes.

The 2024/25 scholars are:

  • Victor Ayodele – Music (singer songwriter)
  • Adithi Ravi-Prakash – Performing arts (dance)
  • DaeJean Samuels – Visual arts (photography)
  • Anna Wright – Music (flute and piccolo)
