Have your say: The 2025 Culture, Employment and Development of Academic Researchers Survey (CEDARS) is now live

CEDARS is a national survey run every two years that gives research communities across UK higher education the chance to share their views on their research cultures, working conditions and professional development.

The questions are aligned with the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers and help us track our progress towards its commitments, whilst also serving as a vital tool to monitor our broader efforts to support a thriving research and innovation culture at Loughborough.

Who can take part?

You can complete CEDARS if you undertake research, manage researchers or contribute to the research endeavour by enabling research/researchers, eg research professionals and technicians.

Please note that the survey is anonymous, takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, and will remain open until 13 June 2025.

Complete the survey now.

Your feedback in previous CEDARS has informed key initiatives at Loughborough – examples of these can be found in this article.

Speaking about CEDARS, Professor Dan Parsons (Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research & Innovation) said:

“I strongly encourage all colleagues in research-active and research-enabling roles to complete this year’s survey. Your insights are essential in helping us understand what’s working well and where we can make meaningful enhancements to our research and innovation culture and environment. Without your input, we may miss the opportunity to act on what truly matters to you – so please take a few moments to share your views and help shape the future of our research culture”

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey. If you have any questions about CEDARS, please contact Dr Katryna Kalawsky.
