Confirmation and Clearing Contact Centre Thursday 14th August 2025 – Volunteers

In August 2025 the Admissions Office will again be running a dedicated Confirmation and Clearing Contact Centre to handle the large volume of telephone calls it receives from undergraduate students in the following categories:

  • Students who have applied to the University and who are querying their admission following publication of the A level results.
  • Students who have not applied to the University but are enquiring about possible vacancies through Clearing.

In past years, over 7000 calls have been handled in two days, with over 500 provisional Clearing offers being made by the Contact Centre team.

The Contact Centre will be coordinated by the Admissions Office, and will run over a short, intense period around the A level publication date, Thursday 14th August.

Following last year’s success, we are looking for members of staff to work alongside students in this fast-moving process on Thursday 14th August. There may also be the possibility to support on Friday 15th August, when we have a reduced number of call handlers.

As in previous years a compulsory training session will be provided on Tuesday 5th or Wednesday 6th August.

How do I get involved?

Please complete this form to volunteer and provide information about your availability for the Contact Centre and related training.

Please note that if you have a relative or other close connection who will be receiving their results in this period, you will not be able to work at the Confirmation and Clearing Contact Centre.

This is a voluntary opportunity to be undertaken with permission from your line manager. We are not able to compensate colleagues who take on this role outside of their usual working hours.
