Resistance trained and untrained participants needed for research investigating

Dear Loughborough Student/Staff Member,

I’d like to kindly invite you to take part in an exciting Research Study we are currently conducting (Study Reference Number: 21355)

We require participants to compare differences in central nervous system characteristics of individuals with and without prior upper and lower body resistance training experience.

Study participation - what's involved

The total time commitment for participants is estimated to be approximately 4 hours for participants, split across the following tasks:

  1. Familiarisation: ~1 h
  2. Test session visit 1 (lower body): ~1.5 h
  3. Test session visit 2 (upper body): ~1.5 h

Eligibility criteria:

  • Men and women
  • Between 18-40 years of age
  • Healthy (with no injury or any underlying disease)
  • Resistance-trained group: >2 years of regular resistance training experience
  • Recreationally active group: Active but no systematic training of any kind
  • No history of epilepsy or seizure
  • Not pregnant
  • Not taking any medication
  • Non-smoker
  • BMI < 30kg/m2
