Profile
Dermot Hodson is an expert in the field of European political economy. He has published widely on the history, politics and policies of the European Union and he also works on the disruptive potential of financial technologies.
He is Principal Investigator on Banking on Europe, an Economic and Social Research Council funded project on how the European Union came to borrow on the scale of a large state and how such borrowing should be held to account.
Professor Hodson previously worked as an economist at the European Commission's Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs. He is Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and has given evidence on several occasions to the House of Lords' European Affairs Committee.
He has published in the Dublin Review of Books, the Guardian, the Irish Times, the New European, Politico Europe and the Washington Post and appeared on BBC Radio 4's The World Tonight and BBC World Service's Weekend Programme.
