Dr Fiona Hatton
Senior Lecturer in Polymer Chemistry
Areas of expertise
Sustainable polymer chemistry; renewable materials; polymer synthesis and characterisation; particle characterisation; controlled radical polymerisation; biopolymers; hydrogels; nanoparticles; polymerisation-induced self-assembly; nanoprecipitation; and polymers in liquid formulations.
Profile
Fiona's research expertise lies in controlled polymer synthesis, whereby we can control the chemistry and architecture of polymers, with a focus on sustainable polymer chemistry and making new materials from renewable resources. Ultimately, these well-defined biobased polymers can be manipulated to form particles in water or other liquids, with a range of applications such as drug delivery, coatings, adhesives, and personal care.
