Professor Surya Monro

I have done innovative/groundbreaking research on transgender in the past, and could speak on issues relating to transgender, gender based violence, womens rights, feminisms, and the anti-gender movement.

Professor Monro has worked in the fields of equality, diversity and inclusion for over 15 years (initially local government EDI) so could comment on areas to do with this, and related organisational and public policies. The work has primarily focused on LGBT and intersex EDI issues but is crosscut with others eg ethnicity, age and disability, as well as bisexuality.

Since 2016, Professor Monro has worked with intersex people to do international and national research to support the well-being and human rights of intersex people.

They have worked with colleagues in the global south, notably South Africa and India, on publication projects including an edited collection on African Queer identities.
