Dr Peng Zhang

Dr Peng Zhang is an Associate Professor at the City University of Hong Kong, a position he has held since 2022. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2012 to 2022.
Dr Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University in 2010 and continued his academic journey as a Combustion Energy Research Fellow at Princeton from 2010 to 2012.
Dr Zhang is the founding chairman of the Institute for Liquid Atomization and Spray Systems (ILASS)-Hong Kong. His research spans droplet and spray dynamics, theoretical and numerical combustion, theoretical chemical kinetics, and AI for science. He has authored approximately 120 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
During their IAS Fellowship, Professor Zhang is collaborating with Dr Lu Tian from the department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering.
