Malcolm Hill was Professor of Russian and East European Industrial Studies at Loughborough Business School until his retirement in 2007 when he was appointed as an Emeritus Professor.
Professor Hill began his career as a student apprentice and production engineer with Tube Investments Ltd, followed by research for a PhD on Soviet technology and management at the University of Birmingham. He later worked on export sales development in the Soviet market for Staveley Machine Tools Ltd, followed by an academic career at Birmingham and Loughborough Universities where he taught operations management and international business. He has also been a Canadian Commonwealth Research Fellow at Carleton University, Ottawa, and an ESRC Global Environmental Change Research Fellow.
