Please call the press office on 01509 223491 to arrange an interview with Dr Yasmine Sabri. Bookings can also be made online at globelynx.com.

I am an Associate Professor in Supply Chain Management at the UK Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) Centre (part of the MIT Global SCALE Network and in partnership with the MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation & Logistics). I am also a member of the board of directors and the academic lead of the Humanitarian Logistics Association (HLA), a visiting professor at the School of Management in Université de Lorraine in France, and a visiting fellow of the Risk & Resilience Management of Complex Socio-Technical Systems research group in Politecnico di Milano in Italy.

In my role at the UK SCALE Centre, I lead the curriculum development across the Centre’s portfolio of degree and executive education programmes in close collaboration with industry partners. We develop innovative curriculum building on MIT's MSc Supply Chain Management (ranked number one in the world, Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking 2024) to enhance student employability and collaborate with industry partners to ensure the relevance and alignment of our programmes with industry trends.

I held academic positions in several universities in the UK, Italy, France and Sweden. I joined Loughborough from UCL (University College London), where I was an Associate Professor, elected member of the UCL Academic Board, and the Director of Education and Student Experience. I also served as a member of the departmental Senior Management Team, the chair of departmental Teaching and Curriculum Development Committees, and a member of the Faculty Education Committee. Prior to that, I worked at Aston University in Birmingham, where I was a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in supply chain management, the director of undergraduate logistics and supply chain management programmes, and the Teaching Excellence Lead for the logistics and supply chain management subject area.

Prior to my academic career, I worked on operations and supply chain management in a Fortune 500 company, and in business development at UK engineering professional institutions (IMechE, ICE and IET), where I co-ordinated collaborations with an array of businesses, industry federations, and higher education providers.

My research is centred on supply chain design in high uncertainty environments. It considers demand, supply and/or innovation uncertainties stemming frm exogenous disruptions such as disasters and climate crises, or risks inherent to the supply chain ecosystem, such as poor integration between and within organisations. My work has received several best research paper awards and I was awarded my PhD degree with distinction. I carry out supply chain research in a number of contexts eg industrial projects, digital transformation, healthcare, food, SMEs and humanitarian sectors. I am happy to accept PhD candidates interested in these topics.

I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT), and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

My research investigates responsible supply chain design in high uncertainty environments. I carry out research in several contexts eg industrial projects, digital innovation, health and humanitarian sectors. The research considers demand, supply and/or innovation uncertainties stemming from exogenous disruptions such as disasters and climate crises, or risks inherent to the supply chain ecosystem, such as poor integration between and within organisations. My research contributes insights to a main theme: supply chain design through the prism of resilience, sustainability and digital innovation.

I build on years of professional experience and my academic expertise to develop cross-disciplinary collaborative research projects and often contribute to key practitioners' forums (eg the World Food Programme Logistics Cluster meeting, and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals conference). I have widely published on humanitarian supply chains, supply chain design, and the resilience of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in high uncertainty environments.

I welcome PhD candidates interested in the broad topics of supply chain resilience, circular and/or ethical supply chains, and humanitarian logistics. If interested, please send a CV along with an extended abstract/research proposal and indicate the source of funding for your PhD.

I have substantial experience in academic leadership including designing several postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, and leading academic teams.

I have designed, led and taught a wide range of modules in supply chain (management, design, planning, resilience, digital transformation, procurement and operations management), as well as research methods modules to undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA and PhD students in Sweden, Italy, France and the UK.
