Conor Nolan

Background

Conor is a Doctoral Researcher at Loughborough University, as of April 2022. His PhD is part of the joint universities EPSRC Future Metrology Hub and looks to develop our measurement capability with emerging photonic technology. The project is in partnership with Renishaw PLC, where Conor briefly worked in the lead-up to his research. Previously Conor attended Loughborough University for his undergraduate degree and did a placement with MOOG Industrial Group as part of that.

Title of thesis: Developing Photonic Chip Adaptive Delay Lines for use in Frequency Scanning Absolute Distance Interferometry

Conor's research is into developing new leading edge technologies in a still emerging technique of photonic manufacture that allows previously unobtainable levels of scale reduction in optical systems. Particularly, applying these new techniques and capabilities to distance measurement sensors using frequency scanning interferometry.
