Tom is an Applied Performance Analyst and he joined Loughborough University in March 2025, moving from the University of Worcester. He carries out teaching on both the undergraduate pathway and the MSc in Applied Sport Performance Analysis at the University, as well as providing support to the University sports performance teams.

Tom's worked as an applied performance analyst within professional football for seven years at Nottingham Forest before moving into academia. He had the opportunity to work with a variety of athletes and coaches from the U18 age group within academy football all the way up to the first team in the Premier League giving him a wide range of skills, experiences and expertise. Tom was part of the analysis team that helped Nottingham Forest end their 23-year drought of Premier League football, helping them beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 at Wembley in the Championship play off final in 2022.

Tom completed his undergraduate degree in Sports Coaching at Leeds Beckett University back in 2017 and went on to graduate with an MSc in Applied Sports Performance Analysis from the University of Worcester in 2019. His aim is to help encourage new students into taking up performance analysis and to further help those students on their journey by passing on his expertise from both the applied field and the academic world.

Tom’s research interest centres around how performance analysis can be used in creating positive learning environments to provide feedback to both coaches and players, as well as understanding the importance of the coach-analyst and player-analyst relationship.
