Sick leave

If you are absent from your research programme due to illness, you should notify your Primary Supervisor and School Administrator on the first day of your illness.

If you are absent for more than 7 calendar days, you should provide a medical certificate to your Supervisor and School Administrator. If your illness extends beyond 14 calendar days, you should contact your supervisor to discuss whether an approved short absence from studies or a Leave of Absence may be appropriate.

Where a Doctoral Researcher is receiving a stipend that is administrated through the University, they will normally be entitled to a total of 13 weeks sickness pay within a 12-month period. Sickness pay is payable when the eligible Doctoral Researcher is on a formal Leave of Absence and has provided supporting medical evidence.
