After the viva
Guidance for internal examiners
After the viva, depending on the outcome, there may be some additional duties that you will need to perform.
Pass: no amendments
The Doctoral Researcher will be formally notified of the outcome by the Doctoral College Office and informed as to how they will be awarded their research degree.
Pass: minor or modest amendments
The Doctoral Researcher will be given up to two months (for minor amendments) or up to six months (for modest amendments) to complete the amendments as listed in the Joint Report Form. When the Doctoral Researcher submits their amended thesis, the Internal Examiner will be asked to approve the amendments. If you do not feel that the amendments have been completed to satisfaction, please inform the Doctoral College Office.
A Doctoral Researcher may, in exceptional circumstances, be permitted more time to complete their amendments. In these cases, this will be communicated to you by the Doctoral College Office.
