Resources
We recognise that our values will mean different things to different groups across our community, depending on both your environment and focus of your work. We've shared some resources here, including examples of how you might further develop and translate our values and behaviours to your specific context.
Culture Design Canvas
This tool was originally developed by Fearless Culture to assess organisational culture. It can also be used as a framework to support teams with building a positive workplace culture.
The tool can help you identify and further clarity what our values look like in practice for your specific context and how these are lived through your work, for example how decisions are made and how meetings are convened through to how feedback is given and how you celebrate success. It has been used successfully by our Marketing and Advancement Directorate and the Loughborough Business School are currently working on their canvas to support broader work on culture and ways of working.
To get started with your Culture Design Canvas, find our more and download a copy of the framework from the Fearless Culture Website or contact Organisational Development.
See how our Marketing and Advancement team have used the template to create their own Culture Design Canvas.
If you’d like further information, support with this resource or help to facilitate a workshop or meeting please contact Organisational Development.
Operating Principles or Ways of Working
Here are some examples of where others across the University have taken our values and used these to develop a set of operating principles or ways of working that are more specific to their work and context.
- Draft operating principles for colleagues working on projects that support the Education and Student Experience strategic portfolio
- Loughborough Sport’s Ways of Working

Challenging behaviours
It's important to recognise and challenge behaviours that undermine our values to foster and maintain integrity and accountability across our community. Providing feedback about behaviours that aren't aligned with our values can be challenging, but it's important for maintaining a positive and productive environment. We've developed this resource, which provides some ways that you might approach this.
