Placement year support

Supporting your placement year journey

There are a number of people in your School who will support you before, during and after a your placement year. Their titles may vary but their roles fall into one of these categories.

Academic Placements Co-ordinator

This is the academic who oversees placement activity for your School or Department, ensuring that Part I assessment is appropriate, that placements meet accreditation standards where applicable, and that sufficient support is provided to students.

Placement Supervisor

All Part I students are assigned an academic tutor who will support them whilst on placement.  Your supervisor is responsible for ensuring that you are progressing satisfactorily in your role, and that you are being adequately supported to undertake meaningful work by your employer.

Your supervisor will meet with you at least twice during your placement, either via Teams, or in person if you are working in the UK.

Placements Officer

Each School has a dedicated administrator or team who will arrange presentations to help you understand the requirements for Part I, promote suitable opportunities, and support you in your search for a position.  Once you have secured a role, they will ensure that the relevant administrative and health and safety processes are completed, arrange a wellbeing call at the start of your placement year, and communicate Part I assessment information to you.
