When to apply for university

The UCAS application process has several key dates within its calendar that are vital to meet. Being aware of these in advance and noting them in your calendars will help you to ensure that forms are submitted on time and that no step is overlooked.

Year 12

February

The first national UCAS fairs take place (full calendar of events and registration can be found on the UCAS website)

June-September

Many universities host Open Days during these months so be sure to check dates in advance so you can book your place

Year 13

September

UCAS applications open

15th October

1st UCAS deadline for applicants to Oxbridge, medicine, vet science and dentistry

29th January

2nd UCAS deadline for remaining applications - this is the last point at which a university gives equal consideration to applications

January/February

Applications for Student Finance open

March

By the end of March, most offers will have been made by universities and returned to the student via their UCAS application

June

1st UCAS deadline for applicants to reply to any offers

30th June

Last date to submit a late application

5th July

Clearing begins

14th August

A Level results day

September
