Description of the works
The gas entry pipework to Royce 17 Plant Room (476), Royce 21 Plant Room (472), Towers Dining (224), Towers Dining Meter House is to be replaced in line with the HSE gas safety case requirements, the high risk corroding steel pipework is to be replaced with new above ground MDPE risers (WASK fittings) to allow new entry pipework to the latest gas standards and guidelines. In addition to the entry replacement, new external building service isolation valves will be cut in to the gas service pipework leading up to the building.
The Towers Dining meter house pipework is to be replaced at the same time as the Towers Dining Building entry replacement, this is being scheduled to coincide with the Towers Dining meter replacement by Energy Assets to avoid multiple shutdowns to work on the same gas system.
Excavation to expose the existing buried gas pipework will be required to allow the service to be squeezed off, in some instances, footpaths will partially be affected for the duration of the works. Noise is expected from heavy plant machinery.
The hot water service to Royce 17 & 21 will be affected by the work while the gas pipework is replaced - there will be no hot water available during the shutdown period.
There will be no gas to Towers Dining affecting gas fired kitchen equipment as well as hot water during the shutdown period.

Towers Dining gas shutdown - Wednesday 13 August - Tuesday 19 August 2025
